Resume

This paper systematically reviews the pharmacological activity of Tussilago farfara L. (coltsfoot) that is beneficial for the gastrointestinal tract. The chemical composition of the plant, its pharmacological properties, as well as experimental and clinical studies were analyzed. It was shown that polysaccharides, flavonoids, phenolic acids, and triterpenes protect the gastric mucosa, while flavonoids reduce prostaglandin synthesis, leading to a decrease in inflammatory processes and an acceleration of epithelial regeneration. At the same time, it is confirmed that, based on innovative approaches and phytopreparations, Tussilago farfara L. can be used as an additional therapeutic agent in modern medicine. Therefore, preparations derived from this plant are considered promising in modern phytotherapy.
