Resume

The 2019 coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that can present with various symptoms. Although involvement of the abdominal organs occurs less frequently compared to other symptoms, it is more commonly observed in severe cases of the disease. There is little data in the literature regarding the imaging appearance of various abdominal organs in children and adults with COVID-19. Mesenteric lymphadenopathy (enlargement of lymph nodes in the abdominal cavity) is mainly reported in patients with COVID-19 who are also suffering from gastrointestinal infection. Mesenteric lymphadenitis may be the only unusual inflammatory manifestation of COVID-19 in adult patients. Due to the lack of information about this emerging disease, it can be assumed that such an unusual inflammatory manifestation is not a rare occurrence.

Keywords: acute appendicitis, mesenteric lymphadenitis, acute abdomen, COVID-19, SARS-CoV2.
