LITERATURE REVIEW ON THE ETIOLOGICAL AND RISK FACTORS LEADING TO UMBILICAL CORD PATHOLOGIES

Resume

This article focuses on the etiological factors contributing to umbilical cord pathologies during pregnancy and their potential risks to fetal health and pregnancy outcomes. Based on epidemiological and clinical data, it discusses the structural and functional anomalies of the umbilical cord, including vascular defects, true knots, cord compression, single umbilical artery, and both congenital and acquired anomalies. The importance of early detection through modern diagnostic tools such as Doppler ultrasound is also emphasized.
