CLINICAL AND EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE OF RECURRENT VULVOVAGINAL INFECTIONS IN WOMEN OF REPRODUCTIVE AGE

Rabbimova G.T. - Samarkand State Medical University

Resume

Recurrent vulvovaginal infections are associated with frequent relapses and impaired quality of life. Aim: to describe clinical phenotypes (bacterial vaginosis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, aerobic vaginitis, and mixed forms), identify risk factors for frequent relapses, and assess patient-reported symptoms. Methods: an observational study included 40 reproductive-age women with ≥3 symptomatic episodes in the last 12 months. Diagnosis relied on clinical examination, vaginal pH, and microscopy (Nugent score for bacterial vaginosis; Donders’ criteria for aerobic vaginitis) plus microscopy/culture for candidiasis. Symptom burden was measured using the 21-item Vulvovaginal Symptoms Questionnaire and a visual analog scale. Results: phenotype distribution, associated factors, and quality-of-life indicators are reported. Conclusion: systematic assessment of mixed forms and aerobic vaginitis is essential in recurrent disease to improve diagnosis and guide therapy.

Keywords: recurrent vulvovaginal infections; bacterial vaginosis; vulvovaginal candidiasis; aerobic vaginitis; mixed vaginitis; quality of life.
