Resume
A single-center cross-sectional study was conducted using the WHO Point Prevalence Survey (PPS) methodology to assess the prevalence of antibiotic use in hospitals. A total of 142 hospitalized patients were included in the analysis. Antibiotics were prescribed to 40.8% of patients, with a mean antibiotic use density of 1.4 courses per patient. Prophylactic antibiotic use predominated in surgical departments (70%). In 75% of cases, the duration of surgical prophylaxis exceeded recommended guidelines. Microbiological confirmation was documented in only 36.7% of therapeutic prescriptions. The study identified key opportunities for optimizing antibiotic use and strengthening antimicrobial stewardship programs.
Key words: antibiotics, obstetrics and gynecology, antimicrobial resistance, sepsis.
