Resume

Ascariasis is one of the most widespread soil-transmitted helminth infections worldwide and is caused by Ascaris lumbricoides [1]. According to the World Health Organization, hundreds of millions of people are affected globally, particularly in developing countries with poor sanitation. This article provides an expanded review of the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, and modern preventive strategies of ascariasis.
