Resume
The relevance of this issue is driven by the increasing incidence of sexually transmitted infections and the consequent rise in benign background lesions, precancerous conditions, and malignant diseases of the cervix. According to the World Health Organization, cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women worldwide; an estimated 604,000 new cases and 342,000 deaths were recorded in 2020.
