Resume
Adolescence is a critical period for the maturation of the reproductive system. Nutritional status plays a fundamental role in the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis. To investigate the relationship between irrational dietary habits and the prevalence of menstrual irregularities among adolescent girls. A comparative study was conducted involving 70 female adolescents (aged 14–17). Participants were divided into two groups: Group A (irrational nutrition, n=35) and Group B (balanced nutrition, n=35). Data were collected via food frequency questionnaires, BMI measurements, and menstrual diaries. Menstrual disorders were significantly higher in Group A (72%) compared to Group B (24%). The most common issues were dysmenorrhea and oligomenorrhea. A direct correlation was found between low fat intake/high fast-food consumption and hormonal imbalances. Nutritional correction should be considered a primary step in managing menstrual dysfunctions in teenagers.
