Resume
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by the reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus and oral cavity, followed by acid-peptic acid exposure of dental hard tissues. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and pathogenetic characteristics of dental hard tissue lesions in patients with GERD, identify the frequency and severity of erosions, and analyze the relationship between GERD severity and the extent of dental lesions. The results showed that patients with GERD have a significantly higher incidence of dental hard tissue lesions compared to controls, reaching approximately 52–65%. These findings suggest the inclusion of dental screening in the comprehensive assessment of patients with GERD.
Key words: gastroesophageal reflux disease, enamel erosion, pathogenesis, dental lesion, hard dental tissues.
