Resume

This article presents a clinical case of liver transplantation performed in a patient with end-stage liver cirrhosis. Patient N.V. (born in 1981) had clinically and laboratory confirmed terminal liver cirrhosis manifested by severe liver failure, portal hypertension, and related complications. According to MELD and Child–Pugh scoring systems, the patient was classified as high-risk. Due to the failure of conservative treatment, liver transplantation was considered the optimal therapeutic approach. A close relative (the patient’s spouse) was selected as a living donor, and immunological as well as anatomical compatibility was thoroughly assessed. The surgical procedure was carried out by a highly qualified multidisciplinary team in accordance with international protocols, including donor graft preparation, hepatectomy, vascular anastomosis, and biliary reconstruction. Postoperatively, the patient was monitored in the intensive care unit and received standard immunosuppressive therapy. Short-term follow-up results demonstrated stable graft function and significant clinical improvement. This clinical case supports liver transplantation as an effective treatment option for patients with end-stage liver cirrhosis.

Keywords: liver transplantation, liver cirrhosis, MELD, Child–Pugh, portal hypertension, immunosuppression.
