Resume

The article presents an assessment of monoamine oxidase-A (MAO-A) activity in computer users with varying degrees of computer vision syndrome. It was established that as the clinical manifestations of CVS worsen, a progressive and statistically significant decrease in the blood level of MAO-A is observed. The initial signs of suppressed enzymatic activity are detected as early as the subclinical stage, and this suppression becomes persistent in moderate to severe forms of the syndrome. The decrease in MAO-A activity is accompanied by the development of autonomic imbalance with a predominance of sympathetic influences. The identified stepwise dynamics of this indicator are closely linked to the progression of CVS. Therefore, MAO-A measurement can be considered an informative biochemical marker for the severity of computer vision syndrome. It is advisable to include the measurement of this indicator in the comprehensive assessment of autonomic and metabolic disorders in computer users, as this allows for a more accurate risk assessment and objective monitoring of the course of computer vision syndrome.

Keywords: computer vision syndrome, monoamine oxidase-A, computer users, autonomic nervous system, sympathoadrenal activation, neurovegetative regulation.
