Over the period of winter studies on the cattle farm, the mean values of ammonia concentration were 5 to 8 mg / m3 in a cow barn for 150 milking cows with tied housing and natural ventilation system that did not exceed MPC of 10 mg / m3, while the natural background concentration of ammonia on the farm was 0.57-0.60 mg / m3. In addition, significant variation of ammonia concentration in the barn was registered for 24 hours, with the difference between the day and night values being up to 2 times. Investigations in the barn for 200 milking cows with tied housing showed that external weather conditions promoted the redistribution of released ammonia over the whole barn, creating the zones of increased and reduced concentration. As a rule, ammonia concentration was 20 to 50% lower on the windward side of the building than on the leeward side. Wind strengthening also helped to reduce the ammonia concentration in the barn.
