M.U.Umarova - Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sina

Resume

Background. Chronic exposure to nicotine-containing products causes significant damage to the mucous membranes of the upper gastrointestinal tract. Objective. To study the morphofunctional and clinical changes of the oral and esophageal mucosa under chronic nicotine intoxication. Materials and Methods. Clinical, endoscopic and morphological examinations were performed in individuals with long-term nicotine exposure and a control group. Results. Clinical, endoscopic and morphological signs of chronic mucosal damage were identified. Conclusion. Chronic nicotine intoxication leads to persistent morphofunctional disorders of the oral and esophageal mucosa.

Keywords: nicotine-containing products; chronic intoxication; mucous membrane; oral cavity; esophagus.
