Resume
Odontogenic infections are among the most common inflammatory conditions of the maxillofacial region and may lead to serious clinical complications due to their ability to spread through fascial spaces. The management of orofacial infections requires a comprehensive approach, with primary treatment goals including elimination of the infectious source, adequate drainage of purulent foci, and prevention of further disease progression. Rational antibiotic therapy is essential, taking into account the polymicrobial nature of these infections, particularly the involvement of anaerobic flora. In cases of deep neck infections and phlegmon, early diagnosis, airway protection, and timely surgical intervention are critical determinants of successful outcomes. Contemporary management strategies emphasize clinical reasoning, individualized treatment planning, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Keywords: odontogenic infection, maxillofacial inflammation, phlegmon, surgical drainage, antibiotic therapy.
