CLINICAL AND LABORATORY CHARACTERISTICS OF MENINGOCOCCAL MENINGITIS

Resume

Meningococcal meningitis is the main form of bacterial meningitis. Purpose: to study the clinical and laboratory manifestations of meningococcal infection. Materials and methods: a retrospective study. Most of the examined patients had cerebral edema with psychomotor agitation, convulsions, impaired consciousness, and infectious-toxic shock with characteristic clinical and laboratory changes. On the part of the cerebrospinal fluid, an increase in the content of protein and cells is observed. In children under 5 years of age, CNS damage was combined with meningococcemia. It is necessary to monitor this infection and introduce vaccination against meningococcal infection.
