SPECIFIC HYGIENIC CHARACTERISTICS OF HOUSEHOLD AND DRINKING WATER SUPPLY IN KHOREZM REGION

Resume

The article examines current issues in the drinking water supply system and factors ensuring service continuity in the Khorezm region, using the examples of Urgench and Khiva cities, as well as Gurlan and Khazarasp districts. The study employs statistical and content analysis methods to evaluate the regulatory framework, tariff policy, and emergency response practices. In particular, it is noted that, according to Decision No. VII-9-74-12-0-K/25 of the Khorezm Regional Council of People's Deputies dated May 20, 2025, tariffs for drinking water supply and wastewater services were approved and came into force on June 9, 2025, while the previous decision dated May 30, 2024 was declared invalid. According to information sources, starting from 2025, the tariff for 1 m³ of drinking water for the population is set at 4,500 UZS (excluding VAT). The content analysis was conducted based on reports from the official information channels of “Khorezm Suv Ta’minoti.” It demonstrated that in Urgench, Khiva, and Khazarasp, cases of water loss and malfunctions in pipelines and facilities are addressed promptly through the coordinated work of operational teams and emergency repair brigades. At the national level, in 2025, results such as a 49% reduction in accounts receivable and an increase in meter coverage to 86% made it possible to analyze the financial and management aspects of sector reforms. In conclusion, proposals were developed to modernize infrastructure based on risk assessment, reduce losses and waste, improve accounting and dispatching through digitalization, and ensure social balance in tariff policy.
