Resume

Iodine deficiency conditions remain one of the most pressing medical and social problems of modern healthcare. Thyroid dysfunction caused by iodine deficiency has a systemic effect on various organs and tissues of the body, including the oral cavity. In recent years, increasing attention has been paid to the relationship between endocrine pathology and dental diseases, particularly inflammatory periodontal diseases and lesions of hard dental tissues. The aim of this study is to optimize the treatment of periodontal diseases and hard dental tissue lesions based on a clinical and laboratory assessment of the dental status of patients with iodine deficiency. The study предполагается to include a comprehensive assessment of the dental status of patients with grade I diffuse goiter associated with iodine deficiency. An analysis of current scientific data characterizing the effect of iodine deficiency on periodontal tissues and hard dental tissues has been carried out. It has been established that iodine deficiency is accompanied by a decrease in the mineralizing potential of saliva, impairment of the immunological homeostasis of oral fluid, and an increase in the frequency of inflammatory periodontal diseases and non-carious enamel lesions. The obtained results indicate the need to develop comprehensive therapeutic and preventive measures aimed at correcting dental disorders in patients with iodine deficiency conditions.
