Resume
The thymus is the center of the immune system, facilitating the proliferation, differentiation and functional maturation of T-lymphocytes, which mediate the cellular immune response. Disturbances in its structure and function, especially as a result of thymectomy, can have a systemic effect on hematopoiesis and immunoregulatory mechanisms. The aim of this study was to conduct a comparative study of cytogenetic changes in bone marrow cells in white rats after thymectomy and to comprehensively evaluate the data obtained. These data confirm the important role of the thymus in maintaining the proliferative potential and genetic stability of bone marrow cells, and also indicate its participation in the regulation of systemic immune homeostasis.
