Resume

This study is aimed at evaluating the effect of hypothyroidism on heart rhythm and systolic function. Laboratory, electrocardiographic, and echocardiographic parameters were compared between patients with hypothyroidism and a control group. The results showed that hypothyroidism is associated with elevated TSH levels, decreased free T3 and T4 levels, and disturbances in lipid metabolism. ECG analysis revealed bradycardia, prolongation of the PQ, QRS, QT, and QTc intervals, as well as increased QT dispersion. Echocardiographic examination demonstrated a reduction in ejection fraction. Correlation analysis showed a strong positive relationship between ejection fraction and free T4 (r = 0.95), a positive correlation between ejection fraction and TSH (r = 0.76), and a negative correlation between ejection fraction and free T3 (r = -0.85). In conclusion, hypothyroidism significantly affects the electrical and mechanical functions of the heart, contributing to the development of arrhythmias and systolic dysfunction.

Keywords: hypothyroidism, arrhythmia, ejection fraction, ECG, PQ interval, QT interval, QRS complex, bradycardia, extrasystole, block.
