Resume
The article presents the results of an analysis of the diagnosis of congenital spinal hernias in 384 children aged from several hours of life to 1 year who were treated at the specialized pediatric surgical clinic of Samarkand State Medical University during 2000–2024. It was found that the most common forms of the defect were meningomyelocele (78.9%), meningocele (18.5%), and myeloschisis (2.6%). The leading clinical signs included the presence of hernial protrusion, skin changes, neurological disorders, and associated hydrocephalus. Pathological changes of the hernial sac skin were observed in 77% of patients, motor disorders in 74.2%, and pelvic organ dysfunction in 64.3%. The most common localization of the defect was the lumbosacral (46.8%) and lumbar (34.8%) regions. Hydrocephalus was detected in 51.3% of patients. Based on the comprehensive analysis of clinical data and instrumental imaging methods, there is a need to develop a new stepwise diagnostic algorithm, which should include clinical-neurological examination, ultrasound, spinal radiography, MRI, and MSCT/CT when indicated.
Keywords: congenital spinal hernias, children, diagnostics, ultrasound, MRI, CT, MSCT, meningomyelocele, hydrocephalus.
