ANALYSIS OF C/T POLYMORPHISM AND GENOTYPE DISTRIBUTION IN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Resume

The aim of the study was to study the distribution of C and T alleles, as well as C/C, C/T, and T/T genotypes of the polymorphism under study in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) wit h and without metabolic syndrome. The study included 105 patients with RA and 103 healthy controls. Among patients with RA, 53 had the disease without metabolic syndrome, and 52 had RA in combination with metabolic syndrome. The analysis of the frequency of alleles and the distribution of genotypes is carried out. It was found that the C allele and the C/C genotype prevailed in all the studied groups. In the main group, the frequency of the C allele was 192 cases, and the T allele was 18 cases. The C/C genotype was detected in 89 patients, C/T in 14, and T/T in 2 patients. The control group was also dominated by the C allele and the C/C genotype, while the T/T genotype was not detected. In patients with RA and metabolic syndrome, there was a slight increase in the frequency of the T allele and C/T genotype compared with the RA group without metabolic syndrome. The results obtained indicate the predominance of the C allele in the study population and the absence of pronounced differences between patients with RA depending on the presence of metabolic syndrome. Further studies on larger samples are needed to confirm the possible role of the T allele in the development of RA.
