Resume

Down syndrome is one of the most common genetic causes of intellectual disability in children and is associated with significant impairments in speech, cognitive, and sensorimotor development. This article presents current data on clinical speech and sensorimotor disorders in children with Down syndrome, discusses the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying speech impairment, and analyzes modern approaches to diagnosis and comprehensive correction. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between motor, cognitive, and speech development, the role of sensorimotor integration, neuropsychological mechanisms, and the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in rehabilitation. The study presents the results of a comprehensive assessment of 122 children with Down syndrome and 58 children with speech and psychomotor developmental delay of various etiologies. A predominance of systemic speech disorders closely associated with cognitive deficits and sensorimotor insufficiency was identified. The findings substantiate the necessity of early initiation of comprehensive corrective interventions.

Keywords: Down syndrome, speech disorders, sensorimotor impairments, cognitive deficit, neuropsychology, speech therapy, rehabilitation, children.
