Surunkali B gepatit (HBV) dunyoda 254 million kishini qamrab olib, yiliga 800 mingdan ortiq oʻlimga sabab boʻladi. HDV bilan koinfeksiya kasallikni ogʻirlashtiradi, fibroz, sirroz va jigar saratoni xavfini oshiradi. Oila ichida yuqish (vertikal, gorizontal va jinsiy) HBV rezervuarini saqlashning asosiy mexanizmidir. Oila ichida yuqish darajasi mintaqaga qarab 8% dan 78% gacha oʻzgaradi. Vaksina mavjud boʻlsa-da, HBsAg-musbat bemorlarning oila aʼzolari yuqori xavf guruhida qolmoqda.
