Resume

Depressive and anxiety disorders in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated by diabetic polyneuropathy are a pressing clinical problem due to their high prevalence and adverse impact on the general condition and quality of life of patients. A cross-sectional study included 184 patients examined in 2025-2026. Psychoemotional state was assessed using the BDI-II and HAM-A, quality of life - according to the SF-12. Clinically significant depressive disorders were identified in 54.9% of patients, with mild and moderate forms predominating. As depression worsened, a consistent increase in BDI-II and HAM-A scores was observed, while the physical and especially mental components of quality of life decreased. The severity of depressive symptoms positively correlated with the level of anxiety, intensity of neuropathic pain and the duration of diabetes, and negatively with SF-12 scores. The findings support the need for early psychometric screening for anxiety and depressive disorders in patients with diabetic polyneuropathy.
