Resume
This study is devoted to the investigation of morphological changes in bone tissue in thoracic and lumbar spondylodiscitis. During the study, biological materials obtained from 125 patients during surgical treatment were examined using macroscopic, histological, histochemical, and immunohistochemical methods. The specimens were stained with hematoxylin-eosin, Van Gieson, alcian blue, and toluidine blue followed by microscopic analysis. The expression level of the CD3 marker was evaluated by immunohistochemical examination. The results revealed thinning of the cartilage layer, fibrillation, fissures, subchondral sclerosis, calcification foci, and inflammatory infiltration in bone tissue. Microscopically, a decrease in proteoglycan content, degenerative changes in chondrocytes, and bone tissue resorption processes were observed. Immunohistochemical analysis demonstrated low expression of the CD3 marker, indicating suppression of the T-lymphocytic immune response. The obtained results are important for a deeper understanding of destructive and inflammatory processes in thoracic and lumbar spondylodiscitis, early diagnosis of the disease, and improvement of treatment strategies.
Keywords: spondylodiscitis, thoracic vertebrae, lumbar vertebrae, bone tissue, morphological changes, immunohistochemistry, CD3, histology.
