ISSUES OF DEVELOPING MEDICAL LITERACY IN THE PRIMARY EDUCATION SYSTEM OF UZBEKISTAN

Resume

This study examines the representation of health literacy elements in the primary education system of Uzbekistan using content analysis. A total of 38 textbooks designed for grades 1–4 were analyzed as the research object. Health literacy components were assessed across the following domains: hygiene, nutrition, physical activity, and disease prevention. The findings indicate that although these elements are present in the textbooks, their quantitative distribution and content depth vary significantly across grade levels. Moreover, health literacy components are mainly presented within isolated topics, and the level of interdisciplinary integration remains low. Based on the results, the study highlights the need for a systematic and integrative approach to developing health literacy in primary education.
