Resume

A retrospective analysis of 485 cardiac surgeries performed at the Samarkand Cardiology Center (2021–2025) was conducted. Herpesvirus DNA was detected in 33 of 50 patients (66%): HSV-1 monoinfection in 12 (24%), HSV-2 in 8 (16%), and CMV in 13 (26%). In the PCR-positive group, signs of active inflammation (lymphohistiocytic infiltration, mucoid stromal swelling, neoangiogenesis; p<0.05) were significantly more frequent, while in the PCR-negative group, chronic changes (hyalinosis, fibrinosis) with a minimal cellular response predominated. Among PCR-positive patients, 87.8% (29 of 33) underwent valve replacement (p<0.05), while in the PCR-negative group, valve replacement was performed in 47% (8 of 17), indirectly indicating more severe damage in virus-associated disease.
