APPLICATION OF GUIDED BIOFILM THERAPY PROTOCOL AND PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY IN THE TREATMENT OF COMORBID PERIODONTAL PATHOLOGIES

Resume

In modern periodontology, special attention is paid to minimally invasive and highly effective methods for treating inflammatory periodontal diseases, especially in the presence of comorbid conditions that complicate the clinical course of the disease. This article analyzes the effectiveness of Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) in combination with photodynamic therapy (PDT) in treating patients with periodontal pathologies complicated by systemic and local comorbidities. The paper examines the mechanisms of action of both technologies, their synergistic potential, and their impact on microbiological and clinical indicators of periodontal health. Particular attention is paid to the role of biofilm as a key pathogenetic factor and modern strategies for its controlled removal. The results of an analysis of clinical observations and literature data indicate a significant reduction in inflammatory markers, a decrease in periodontal pocket depth, and an improvement in oral hygiene indices with the combined use of GBT and PDT.
