Resume

This article presents the results of an evaluation of the medical and social effectiveness of implementing an algorithmic approach to the diagnosis and treatment of intestinal obstruction in children. The study included 112 patients aged 6 months to 17 years, divided into a study group (n=63) using an optimized algorithm and a control group (n=59) using a traditional approach. Surgical outcomes, reduction in hospital stays, prevented postoperative complications, the psychoemotional state of children and parents, and the social burden on the family were assessed. The results showed that the algorithm increased the frequency of laparoscopic interventions, reduced the complication rate (from 18% to 5%), shortened the average length of hospital stay by 3 days, and decreased the number of reoperations. Improvements in children's quality of life were noted, as measured by the PedsQL scale, decreased parental stress levels (Parental Stress Scale), decreased anxiety and depressive symptoms (HADS), and increased satisfaction with medical care. Implementation of the algorithm also reduced the burden on the healthcare system and social costs for patients' families. These findings confirm that the algorithm-based approach is an effective and safe strategy for managing children with intestinal obstruction, contributing to improved clinical, socioeconomic, and psychoemotional outcomes.

Keywords: intestinal obstruction, children, management algorithm, medical and social effectiveness, hospital days, psychoemotional state, PedsQL, HADS, Parental Stress Scale.
