MORPHOLOGICAL CHANGES IN THE MUCOSA OF THE PARANASAL SINUSES IN CHRONIC RHINOSINUSITIS IN THE AGE ASPECT

Resume

Chronic rhinosinusitis occupies one of the leading positions in the structure of inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract and is characterized by high prevalence, a tendency to recurrence, and a significant reduction in patients’ quality of life. Despite the development of modern diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, the outcomes of treatment for chronic rhinosinusitis remain insufficiently satisfactory, which is largely due to the complexity of the pathogenetic mechanisms of the disease and the variability of its clinical course.

Keywords: chronic rhinosinusitis, paranasal sinus mucosa, morphological changes, age-related aspect, morphometry, inflammation, microcirculation.
