CORRELATION OF ANTHROPOMETRIC PARAMETERS AND BONE MINERAL DENSITY IN WOMEN OF DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS

Resume

This study examined the relationship between bone mineral density (BMD) and anthropometric parameters as well as body composition in 130 women from the Bukhara region aged 18–74 years. Lumbar vertebrae (L2–L4) BMD was measured using densitometry, while muscle and fat mass were assessed using bioimpedance analysis. It was found that muscle mass is a more significant determinant of BMD than fat mass, particularly in young and middle-aged women. In elderly women, BMD decreased with age and the duration of postmenopause.
