Resume

Urticaria is a common mast cell–mediated disease of the skin and mucous membranes, characterized by sudden wheals, angioedema, or their combination. The GA²LEN/EAACI/EuroGuiDerm/APAAACI 2026 consensus distinguishes acute (6 weeks) forms; chronic urticaria is further divided into spontaneous (CSU) and inducible (CIndU) types. CSU occurs more frequently in women, in young and middle-aged individuals, and in countries with lower average income. Population studies (China ≈ 41,000, USA) report a lifetime prevalence of 7–15% and point prevalence of 0.5–1%. Pathogenesis involves mast cell and basophil activation through IgE-dependent (autoallergy) and IgG-dependent (type IIb) mechanisms, as well as contributions from the microbiota, low-grade inflammation, and stress factors. This review summarizes data from 2021–2026, highlighting trends, gaps, and clinical implications.

Keywords: urticaria, epidemiology, pathogenesis, international guidelines.
