Resume

Every year around 40 million overweight pregnancies occur worldwide, in some countries this complication occurs in more than 60%. In Uzbekistan, 25.2% of women (15-49) are overweight, 15.5% of pregnant women are obese. This review discusses the impact of being overweight on pregnancy complications and outcomes. Being overweight is a significant risk factor for infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy complications, complications in childbirth, and fetal and maternal mortality. All of these risks are also associated with excessive weight gain during pregnancy. Since it is often difficult for women to shed the weight gained during pregnancy, excessive weight gain during pregnancy can also put future pregnancies at risk for adverse outcomes. Large weight gain between pregnancies is also a factor in the increased risk of future pregnancies.

Key words: Occult diabetes during pregnancy, risk factors for adverse perinatal outcomes, infertility, infertility, pregnancy complications, obstetric complications, fetal and maternal mortality.
