Resume
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the pathogen responsible for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which has led to global health impacts and health resource coverage. While identifying the patient population recovering from COVID-19, it is essential to establish an understanding of the health issues surrounding them. COVID-19 is now recognized as a high-spectrum multi-organ disease. Similar to the post-acute viral syndromes described in survivors of epidemics of other virulent coronaviruses, there are increasing reports of persistent and lasting effects after acute COVID-19. Post-acute COVID-19 syndrome with persistent symptoms and/or delayed or severe complications within 4 weeks of illness onset. Here, we present a review of the current literature on post-acute COVID-19, its pathophysiology, and organ-specific sequelae.
Key words: COVID-19, Post COVID-19 syndrome, anxiety, depression, mental complications of COVID-19, neurologic sequels
