SURGICAL REHABILITATION OF PATIENTS WITH REFRACTORY GLAUCOMA

Resume,

Combination of refractory glaucoma and pathology of an eye’s anterior segment worsens the prognosis of a patient’s rehabilitation. The matter of necessity of stage-by-stage or combined surgical treatment of glaucoma with reconstructive surgeries remains disputable. We have treated 25 eyes of 23 patients with various types of refractory glaucoma. In our modification antiglaucomatous surgery was rendered first, reconstruction of an eye’s anterior segment was the second stage. The results of the treatment allow saying that this approach lessens the risk of introperative haemorragic complications during carrying out the second stage of reconstruction, and reduces the number of complications in early and late postoperative periods significantly. This sufficiently influences the improvement of visual functions, reduction of postoperative rehabilitation’ periods and stabilization of hydrodynamic indexes.
