Resume,

Infectious mononucleosis is a common infection among children and adults caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Since the virus is not eliminated from the body and has a tropism for lymphoid and reticular tissue, a peculiar immunopathological process is simulated that affects all parts of the immune system. Active proliferation of virus- infected lymphocytes was observed in all organs with lymphoid tissue, with infiltration and histological changes in the lymph nodes, liver, spleen, etc. This leads to polymorphism of symptoms and complications of infectious mononucleosis. Infectious mononucleosis (MI) is an acute anthroponous viral infectious disease characterized by fever, generalized lymphadenopathy, tonsillitis, damage to the liver and spleen with changes in immune status. Under observation were 25 children under 14 years of age with infectious mononucleosis complicated by acute inflammation of the tonsils. Boys accounted for 56.6%, girls – 43.3%. Unilateral lesions of the tonsils were observed in 57.8%, bilateral – in 42.2%. In addition to signs of inflammation, general anxiety, poor sleep, and refusal were noted. In addition to the traditional examination (general analysis of blood, urine, bacteriological and biochemical studies), all patients were subjected to ENT examination.         When studying the results, improving the clinical condition of children, along with suppressing the level of the proinflammatory cytokine IFN, was accompanied by the disappearance of signs of inflammation of the palatine tonsil, improving the general condition of the child during treatment.
