ROLE OF HIGHER-ORDER ABERRATIONS IN THE PATHOGENESIS OF AMBLIOPIA

Resume
In ophthalmology, throughout the history of observations, an important role is played by a pathophysiological condition characterized by a decrease in central vision, often with impaired binocular vision, which is interpreted as amblyopia. Until now, despite the many proposed schemes, the pathogenesis of this disease has not been fully understood. This review is devoted to the study of literature data concerning higher-order aberrations (HOA), its role in the development of amblyopia and its clinical features, and the identification of new aspects of etiology and pathogenesis. The article presents literature data on the study of HOA, leading to the development of amblyopia. Further study of the etiopathogenesis of refractive and dysbinocular amblyopia, as well as the accompanying sensory, morphological and functional changes, is an important medical and social task.
Key words: the development of amblyopia, binocular vision, dysbinocular amblyopia.
