Resume
Modern approaches to the treatment of patients with arterial hypertension, offered to practitioners, are based on the results of international scientific multicenter randomized trials, their meta-analysis, as well as on the recommendations of scientific societies.
The search for new and optimization of existing pharmacological approaches to the therapy of hypertension in order to achieve its higher efficiency seems relevant. The effect of antihypertensive drugs on the prognosis of hypertensive patients depends not only on the ability to reduce blood pressure and maintain it at the target level, but also on the ability to inhibit or reverse the development of remodeling in target organs.
For a long time, stepwise therapy has been recommended as the main tactic for the initial treatment of hypertension: prescribing a minimum dose of one drug with its subsequent increase, and then alternately adding the components until the desired effect is achieved.
Key words: arterial hypertension, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, diuretics, angiotensin receptor blockers, calcium channel blockers
