Resume

Squamous cell carcinoma associated with HPV is a type of oropharyngeal cancer. Since the early 1980s, scientists began to discuss the role of the human papillomavirus in the development of HNSCC, mainly laryngeal cancer. However, in recent years, more attention has been paid to the risk of developing malignant tumors of the oropharynx against the background of HPV infection. The frequency of HPV detection in tumors of this localization varies from 20 to 60%. The occurrence of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is traditionally associated with exposure to tobacco smoke and alcohol. However, in the last 30 years, despite a decrease in the prevalence of smoking, there has been a stabilization and subsequent increase in the incidence of ORSCCC. This increase in the incidence of OFCC is currently associated with human papillomavirus infection.
