Resume

Purpose. Determination of the visual organs’ injuries degree and causes in comatose patients in the intensive care department. Materials and methods of research. A retrospective study was conducted evaluating 283 courses of intensive treatment for cardinal symptoms. And also in a cohort study, 301 patients admitted to the intensive care unit within 24 hours were examined. Results. At the first stage, the frequency of viral keratitis was 21%, and at the second stage after the introduction of the protocol it decreased by 2.6%. Conclusions. Many strategies have been developed, such as moisturizing drops, ointments, and artificial tear chambers.
