Resume
Currently, functional or secondary mitral insufficiency (MI) is the most common acquired heart defect and accounts for a significant proportion of cardiovascular pathology worldwide. The incidence of ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR), which is one of the complications of ischemic heart disease (IHD), varies from 11 to 59% and develops against the background of acute myocardial infarction (MI). IMR is accompanied by a pronounced clinical picture of heart failure and worsens the prognosis of the disease. The main cause of IMR is changes in the muscle component of the mitral valve associated with myocardial remodeling, which leads to impairment of its functioning. The prognosis of the disease is extremely unfavorable, especially in combination with CHD, with mortality significantly higher than in patients without IMR. Studies show that IMR is a strong predictor of heart failure and increased mortality, making it an important clinical factor. Timely treatment and improved reperfusion can reduce the incidence of CHF and improve patient outcomes, but in the long term, CHF remains a frequent predictor of mortality.
