Resume
Anatomical and physiological features of the spinal column and spinal cord in children and adolescents that affect the nature of injuries to these structures have been identified. It is noted that the anatomy and biomechanics of the children's spine begin to overlap with those of adults at the age of 8-10 years, and therefore injuries to these structures in children under 8 years of age have their own morphological features compared with spinal injuries in children older than this age. With age and the development of physiological bends, the number of vertebral injuries decreases. In addition, the immature spine in children has great elasticity and flexibility of movement. Therefore, fractures or dislocations are not always detected in children during injuries. In general, spinal cord injuries in children are most often (40.32%) observed in the age group of 5-9 years, in which injuries of the SHOP predominate., and in adolescents, the thoracic and lumbar regions are more injured. The occurrence of injuries in the structures of the spine in children and adolescents is possible in situations inadequate to the typical mechanisms of injury. In addition, fractures in children and adolescents are most often localized in several parts of the spine, and in adults such injuries occur 2 times less than in children.Noted features of the PSMT In children and adolescents, special attention is required in early diagnosis, as well as in planning treatment strategies aimed at optimal functional results and reducing long-term complications. The localization, nature, and extent of spinal column and spinal cord injuries in children and adolescents should be taken into account when justifying the mechanism of injury, as well as during the forensic qualification of the severity of injuries to these structures.
