Resume

The article presents the results of a molecular-genetic and clinical-laboratory study of 92 women who underwent examination for genital prolapse following hysterectomy. The patients were divided into two groups: the main group (women with genital prolapse after hysterectomy) and the control group (women without signs of pelvic organ prolapse after hysterectomy). Genotyping of the rs2018736 (A456C) polymorphism of the FBLN5 gene was performed using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. It was found that the presence of the unfavorable C allele and carriage of the homozygous C/C genotype were significantly associated with an increased risk of developing genital prolapse after hysterectomy, whereas the functional A allele and the A/A genotype exerted a protective effect. It was also revealed that the negative A/C and C/C genotypes were more frequently recorded among women of working age (31–50 years), highlighting the need for molecular-genetic screening in at-risk groups. The obtained results emphasize the importance of molecular-genetic markers in assessing predisposition to genital prolapse and the necessity of a comprehensive approach to the prevention of this pathology in women of reproductive and perimenopausal age
