Resume

Inflammation is critical for the onset and progression of many cancers. Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is a disease associated with chronic inflammation, often seen in autoimmune thyroiditis. Molecules that induce inflammation in the tumor microenvironment exert pro- or anti-tumor effects. Among them, interleukins, produced mainly by CD3+ and CD4+ T lymphocytes, are a class of low-molecular proteins that play an important role in intercellular communication. Numerous studies have confirmed that interleukins are closely associated with thyroid cancer. Interleukins regulate the proliferation and migration of thyroid cancer cells, and their use shows promise in differentiating benign and malignant thyroid diseases, predicting tumor risk, assessing prognosis, and monitoring thyroid cancer recurrence. This review will present potential mechanisms of action of interleukins in thyroid cancer, which will help update the understanding of the progress of interleukins research in thyroid cancer.

Keywords: autoimmune thyroiditis, interleukins, thyroid cancer, inflammation, tumor microenvironment.
