Resume
The article considers the effectiveness and safety of using Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) in combination with traditional physiotherapy compared to classic physiotherapy without CPM in children with post-traumatic contracture of the elbow joint. A randomized controlled trial was conducted, in which the participants were divided into two groups: CPM + FT (physiotherapy) and FT without CPM. Measurements of movement amplitude (ROM), functional state on the Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS) scale, responder analysis, time to reach the target amplitude, side effects and resistance of changes were carried out before treatment, after 6 weeks, 3 and 6 months. The results show that the addition of CPM contributes to a faster and more significant improvement of ROM and MEPS, a greater number of patients who have achieved minimal clinically significant improvement, as well as more stable results while maintaining the safety of the method. These data can be used in the formation of rehabilitation standards in a child after the surgical release of the elbow contracture.
