Resume

Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) is a systemic inflammatory reaction to various severe damaging factors of infectious and non-infectious origin. SIRS is characterized by increased production of primarily proinflammatory and, to a lesser extent, anti-inflammatory cytokines by virtually all cells of the human body, primarily immunocompetent cells. This pattern of SIRS mediated response to a stimulus is referred to as SIRS with a predominantly proinflammatory mediated response. The most severe and least manageable type is a mixed antagonistic reaction, or dysregulation.

Keywords: systemic inflammatory response, pneumonia, tachycardia, sepsis, fever, allergic diathesis.
