Resume

At present, the coronavirus infection has spread to the level of a pandemic, with a noticeable increase in infection cases among pregnant women. During pregnancy, the organs and systems of a woman’s body operate under additional strain, which leads to a decrease in the strength of the immune system. In such conditions, the effects of viruses causing respiratory diseases become particularly dangerous. Moreover, scientific sources providing information about the stage of pregnancy during which these infections occur and the treatment methods applied remain insufficient, and the available data lack proper systematization. Based on these circumstances, it has been established that the impact of COVID-19 infection on the body of a pregnant woman, as well as the normometric characteristics of the developing fetal organs and systems as a result of this condition, have not been fully investigated.
