FEATURES OF GUT MICROBIOTA CHANGES IN OBESITY

Resume
Obesity continues to be a major global health concern, with its onset shaped by a combination of genetic predisposition and environmental influences. The worldwide incidence of obesity is steadily rising each year. In recent decades, substantial evidence has emerged underscoring the pivotal contribution of the gut microbiome to the pathogenesis and progression of obesity. Targeted modulation of microbial composition and activity has thus been proposed as a promising therapeutic strategy for managing this condition. Nevertheless, the intricate interactions among hereditary factors, environmental exposures, gut microbial ecosystems, and the metabolic mechanisms underlying obesity remain insufficiently elucidated. This review examines the distinct alterations of gut microbiota observed in obesity, the biological pathways through which these microbial shifts may influence energy balance and fat accumulation, and the combined effects of genetic and ecological determinants on microbiome composition and metabolic regulation. The objective of this paper is to deepen understanding of the multifaceted connections between obesity and gut microbiota and to highlight prospective avenues for future investigation in this rapidly evolving field.
Keywords: gut microbiota, obesity, dysbiosis, genetics, environment.
