REDUCING THE BIRTH RATE IN UZBEKISTAN: THE IMPACT OF CONTRACEPTIVES

Resume

In recent years, Uzbekistan has experienced a decline in the growth rate of fertility, influenced by a combination of demographic, socioeconomic, medical, and cultural factors. One of the key determinants is the use of modern contraceptive methods and changes in the availability of contraceptives. This paper examines the historical development of contraceptive supply in the country, analyzes trends in contraceptive use, accessibility factors, the impact of international financial support, and socio-cultural perceptions of contraception. Special attention is given to the issue of contraceptive shortages and their consequences for women's reproductive health. Additionally, the paper presents findings from a survey conducted among approximately 2,000 women of reproductive age, which helped identify the main barriers to the use of modern family-planning methods.
