Resume
Prematurity is a significant risk factor for neurodevelopmental disorders in children. Despite the increase in survival rates for premature infants, they still have a high likelihood of delays in motor, cognitive, and language development. The prognosis for neurodevelopmental outcomes is influenced by gestational age, birth weight, the severity of neonatal complications, and postnatal development conditions. Early diagnosis and the use of standardized assessment methods play a crucial role in predicting neurodevelopmental outcomes. Early intervention and a multidisciplinary approach can improve long-term neuropsychological and social outcomes in prematurely born children.
Keywords: premature birth, premature infants, psychomotor development, prognosis, neurodevelopment, early intervention.
